Our Mission
TrueRateGuide exists to cut through the confusion of personal finance. Too many Americans overpay for loans, insurance, and credit cards simply because comparing offers is slow, confusing, and full of fine print. We built TrueRateGuide to fix that: a single place where you can compare real rates from top US providers in minutes, not hours.
What We Do
We compare financial products across four core categories:
- Personal Loans: from $100 to $100,000; APRs 5.99%–35.99% based on creditworthiness
- Auto Insurance: quotes from top carriers across US states
- Credit Cards: cashback, travel rewards, 0% intro APR, and balance transfers
- Home Improvement Loans: unsecured loans and HELOCs for any project
How We're Different
We're not owned by a bank. We're not a lender. We don't try to sell you anything ourselves. What we do is connect you with offers from real providers so you can decide for yourself. Our rankings and comparisons are based on publicly verifiable data: APRs, fees, customer satisfaction scores, and lender disclosures.
How We Work
Every comparison on TrueRateGuide follows the same 3-step process:
- 1. Pull published rates. We start with rate data from the named primary sources below. We never invent a number or round up to look favorable.
- 2. Verify against lender/issuer disclosures. Before a rate goes live on our site, we cross-check it against the provider's own website or official rate sheet. Conflicts get flagged and resolved before publish.
- 3. Re-verify on a rolling schedule. Mortgage and savings rates: weekly. Personal loan and credit card APRs: every 2 weeks. Auto insurance averages: monthly. Each page shows its last-verified date so you know the data is current.
If we can't verify a number, we don't publish it. If we make a mistake, we correct it and note the correction.
Editorial Independence
Our recommendations are not influenced by advertiser payments. While we may earn a commission if you apply through our links, our rankings are determined by our editorial policy. Read more about how we make money.
Our Sources
We don't invent numbers. Every rate and statistic on our site comes from a named, traceable source:
- Mortgage rates: Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS), updated weekly
- Personal loan rates: Bankrate and lender disclosures, verified weekly
- Credit card APRs: Federal Reserve G.19 Consumer Credit report and issuer websites
- Auto insurance rates: NAIC, Bankrate, and Forbes Advisor composite data
- Consumer protection guidance: Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
Our Editorial Team
TrueRateGuide content is produced by the TrueRateGuide Editorial Team, a group of finance writers and researchers focused on helping U.S. consumers compare insurance, loans, and credit products. We fact-check against published lender disclosures, CFPB guidance, and current rate data from the sources listed above. Every article is reviewed before publishing and re-verified on a rolling schedule.
